Midwife is CNN's Hero of the Year

Ibu Robin
Robin Lim is a Direct-Entry Midwife from the U.S. who has been living in Bali, Indonesia for years.  She has delivered more than 4,000 for free in Indonesia. Robin won $250,000 to put towards her Healthy Mother Earth Foundation.  She is the founder of Every Mother Counts, which is "an advocacy and mobilization campaign to increase education and support for maternal and child health. "  Her foundation provides free medical aid, prenatal/postpartum care and labor/delivery services.  Her daughter put out a movie called Guerilla Midwife documenting what she does in her country.  It's an excellent movie.

"EVERY 90 seconds of EVERY day we lose a mother from the complications of pregnancy - 90% of them are preventable."

We will be showing the film from Robin's Organization " No Women, No Cry".  It is a documentary in which  Christy Turlington Burns shares the powerful stories of at-risk pregnant women in four parts of the world, including a remote Maasai tribe in Tanzania, a slum of Bangladesh, a post-abortion care ward in Guatemala, and a prenatal clinic in the United States.

If you are  interested in seeing the movie, we will be viewing it after the holiday season.  Email me to be put on the contact list or leave a comment  for the invitation to the movie.

And no, I cannot believe that Caitlyn is nearly 9 months old. Where does the time go?! They say the days go by faster the older you get, which means I am getting very ancient!! Hope you had a very Merry Christmas. Here's to a wonderful 2012!
